This is a contributor's copy of one of the best anthologies of writings by a veritable "Who's Who" of 76 noted Lincoln scholars, each of whose facsimile signature follows their entry. This copy hails from the library of Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65), Illinois governor and twice a presidential candidate. The front flyleaf bears his large, boldly penciled full ownership signature, belong which he wrote "Page 145/481." On page 145 his five-page chapter, "'I Do Not Think Myself Fit for the Presidency': The Election of 1860,: begins, and he's placed a slip of paper (titled "Waldorf Astoria Memorandum") with his initials penciled at the top of the paper slip and with checkmarks penciled on each of the other four pages. Page 481 features a one-paragraph entry about Stevenson in its "Biographical Sketches of Contributors" section. A unique copy. Signed by Other.…
