Añadir al carritoTen unpaginated 26 x 22 cm. leaves, comprising three leaves of letterpress (cover, title and back cover), and seven leaves each with a 17 x 14 cm black-and-white photograph laid down. A frail survival, with the photographic portraits in good condition, but the brittle leaves chipped and discoloured. One bifolium intact (with remains of string binding), all the other leaves detached and loose, making it difficult to ascertain whether the item is or is not complete. (The entry for the only copy traced on OCLC WorldCat, at the Universitätsbibliothek Bayreuth, describes it as ' 6 Bl. : : nur Ill.') The title carries an attractive illustration by Norman Keene, and lists the actors (photographed in character) as Miss Gertie Millar, Miss Gwendoline Brogden, Miss Teddie Gerrard, Mr. Arthur Playfair, Miss Gina Palerme, Mr. A. Simon-Girard, Mr. Nelson Keys; with 'Books and Lyrics by Arthur Wimperis and Basil Hood. | Music by Lionel Moncokton and Herman Finck. | Produced by Edward Royce and Tom Reynolds.' The illustrations are all present as per subjects listed on title-page andt in the following note on the back cover: 'The Music of "Bric-a-Brac" is published by Chappell & Co. and Hawkes & Son. | The Photographic Reproductions in this Souvenir are from originals by Rita Martin (Miss Gertie Millar and Miss Gina Palerme), Hugh Cecil (Miss Gwendoline Brogden) and Foulsham & Banfield (Miss Teddie Gerrard, Mr. Nelson Keys, Mr. Arthur Playfair, Mr. A. Simon-Girard). | The Copyright Design on the Cover is by Norman Keene (reproduced by permission of P. C. Burton & Co.)' The page on which each of the seven illustrations is laid down is printed in grey, with a facsimile of the actor's signature, and a few bars of the score associated with the actor's character, in facsimile autograph of either Monckton or Finck, and each with a facsimile of the composer's signature. From the papers of the composer Herman Finck [ born Hermann Van Der Vinck ] (1872-1939).

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good. First Edition. "Even though the geographic limitations of this work are prescribed by the boundaries of a specific Icelandic settlement, its general scope and extensive background research defy this narrow categorization. The author not only traces the history of the settlement itself, from its beginnings to recent times, he includes a great deal of material of potential interest to those who may have only tenuous links with the Icelandic cultural heritage, at the same time establishing ties between thousands of Icelandic-North Americans and their native Iceland. The author's disciplined approach has made the writing of this book an arduous task, but at the same time his stringent demands upon himself have enhanced the scholarly merit of his work immeasurably. Virtually unaided, the author has now completed and seen through to publication a more meticulous piece of research than any previously undertaking in the field of Icelandic ethnic history." - Haraldur Bessason, Professor and Head, Department of Icelandic Language and Literature, University of Manitoba. 838 pages. Average wear. Binding intact. Gift greetings atop front free endpaper. Yellow highlighting to five pages. A sound copy of this invaluable genealogical reference.
