Quarter black Oasis goat skin with leather tips and John DePol's wood-engraved pattern paper covered boards, leather spine label gilt, black cloth-covered drop-back box with paper label, large 4to., xvii, (ii), 122, (1) pages + 22 color plates. Illustrated throughout with 58 wood engravings, mainly by John DePol, mounted color and monochrome photographs and a fabric specimen. One of 175 numbered copies printed from Perpetua type on Zerkall mould made paper. Set by Michael and Winifred Bixler, calligraphy by Jerry Kelly and bound by Campbell-Logan. Laid in are the prospectus, a spare label, a business card and a ANS signed by Shaver. A fine copy in a fine drop-back box.

Brown paper wrappers printed in red, one of 150 copies, this copy although not called for is inscribed and signed by John DePol "For Paul Razzell/John DePol/2 October 1999". Paul Razzell is the proprietor of Inferno Press publishers of limited edition and fine press books, a nice association copy. Errata slip tipped-in at rear. Five pages of text, four engravings and one sketch. Signed by Artist.

Bound in quarter goatskin over patterned paper boards (design by John DePol, as are many of the in-text illustrations); leather spine title label. In black cloth-covered clamshell box, with printed paper spine label. Copy 91 of 175. Extra paper label and prospectus inserted in clamshell. Book and clamshell are Very Good; prospect has a crease and tears at the foot of the spine. Fine press bibliography in three parts: books, prospectuses, and ephemera. The press was started by Shaver in 1960 and produced its first book in 1979, completed as part of a class taught by Harry Duncan.

1/2 cloth. A hardcover book in a black fabric clamshell box. The title is printed on a plate and glued to the spine on the box. The book itself is half leather goatskin, with the title gilted on a fabric plate and glued to the spine. The leather is black and the boards are illustrated with a graphic design. The front and back free and pasted end papers are a heavy, textured, dull gold paper. The edges of the pages are deckled. Pages: (4), v-xvii, (3), 4-122, (4). Of 175 copies of this edition, this is numbered 13. Includes twenty plates and at least fifty in-text figures. There is one foldout page. Neil Shaver began his Yellow Barn Press in Council Bluffs, Iowa in the 1960s, but it wasn't until 1979, after having studied printing with Harry Duncan, that the press produced its first book. Throughout the eighties and nineties, the press continued to publish titles noted for their quality of design and high craftsmanship in production, in particular, books of poetry and books about books or books about printing such as the successful Elbert Hubbard: William Morris's Greatest Imitator, American Iron Hand Presses, and John DePol: A Celebration. Included are a history and comments by Neil Shaver. VG+: There are two label marks on the clamshell box. The book is in excellent condition, and looks like it has never been opened. Still includes promotional materials. Clean pages, tight binding, and sharp corners.

Edition limited to 150 copies, 4to, pp. [14]; vignette title-page printed in tan and black, 4 full-page wood engravings and one double-page facsimile title page with woodcut printed in maroon and black; errata slip tipped in at back; fine in original tan paper wrappers, title printed in maroon on upper cover, printed complimentary slip from the printer/author laid-in.
