Hardcover. 1st Edition. A good but worn copy in pictorial paper-covered boards of this children's book. Lovingly dedicated to the rhythm and the light-heartedness of the real Hawaii, this book has been lovingly read, and the binding is heavily worn and frayed at the top and bottom of the spine ends and at the corners. Some abrasion and transfer of paper affecting several words on pages 45 and 47. With all 27 full page illustrations present, including the illustrated endpapers which are part of the narrative. This copy is inscribed with a small drawing in green fountain pen ink:"To Martha Louise:-- To say your name Hawaiian style. I think youd like to "hiki" Its easy! Marthas "Ma-ka" and Louise is just "Luiki." Emma Lyons Doyle With a charming drawing of a child in a straw hat with the words: "Aloha, Tommy! Hiki means able to do." First Edition with matching dates of 1944 on the title and copyright pages. This copy is inscribed with a small drawing in green fountain pen ink:"To Martha Louise:-- To say your name Hawaiian style.
