The study proposed four questions which revolve around the translation strategies applied to the ten political speeches in the form of video clips which are the corpus of the study, the major features of those speeches as discourses, their ideological connotations and their functions. By making recourse to Critical Discourse Analysis, the study concluded that Memri used many strategies mainly literal translation, transposition, deletion and addition which helped in making the translations very appropriate. The study also concluded that the SL and the TL shared the same discourse issues mainly in terms of ideology, dominance and power relations. Concerning the function of these translations, the study argued that it is to give the TL audience a negative image of Arabs mainly that they are hostile against Israel and the West especially USA, racist and terrorist. 92 pp. Englisch.

Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The present book is a study of the feminine characters in Virginia Woolf's 'The Waves' and 'Mrs. Dalloway'. The choice of these two novels is based on the fact that they clarify Virginia Woolf's feminist position. The study proposed three research questions which revolve around the different theories of characterization and the different manifestations of feminine characters in 'The Waves' and 'Mrs. Dalloway'. To try to answer the research questions, the study made recourse to textual analysis and Shlomith Rimmon -Kenan's method of character-analysis. The study concluded that the characters are presented approximately in the same way in both 'Mrs Dalloway' and 'The Waves'. The study concluded also that both 'The Waves' and 'Mrs Dalloway' make an exposition of different kinds of women. But, the common feature of the female characters in both works is their suffering and their failure to find a meaning to their life. These two works try also to give a great importance to women who are active and who can change the world if they are given a chance. These two novels agree on the point that women are creative, sensitive, romantic. They tend as much as they can towards harmony. 88 pp. Englisch.
