Añadir al carritoNo Binding. Condición: Collectible-Very Good. Original typed letter on beige stationery of The Bomb. Datelined May 19, 1904 in Lexington, Virginia. 8" x 10 3/4." One page, complete. Paper and printed and typed text are very clean and intact overall. A few horizontal and vertical fold lines (may be original). A few small wrinkles…. Printed letterhead reads, "The Bomb, '04; Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virigina." The Bomb is the yearbook of the Virginia Military Institute and was first published in 1885. The yearbook is still published to this day and had been published continuously since 1897. At the top of the letter are printed staff names of the yearbook including J. E. Mort, Acting Editor-in-Chief and Business Manager; R. Ragland, Assistant Editor; G. W. Headley, Assistant Business Manager; T. C. Gordon, Advertising Editor; and A. P. Upshur, S. A. Loughridge, and C. N. Hancock, Assistant Advertising Editors. In this letter, J. E. Mort writes to an alum of the Virginia Military Institute about the 1904 edition of The Bomb. This letter was likely sent out en masse to all alumni. Excerpt: "Dear Sir: We are preparing the 1904 edition of 'The Bomb' which, we think, will surpass anything in this line ever gotten out at this Institute. It will be bound in a leather cover, contain various drawings, both in black and white, and in colors; numerous photographs of cadet life and barrack scenery--things of special interest to the Alumni." Signed with, "Yours truly, J. E. Mort, Manager." Signature of "J. E. Mort" is in black ink; the rest of the closing is printed text. Signed by Author(s).
