Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. In this maritime-themed opà ra comique, a crewman named Dorian returns to his hometown after a long voyage to find his lover, Freluchette, married to another man. Despite their separation, the flames of their love still burn, and they both realize their haste in remarrying. The story is set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, a time when divorce was extremely rare, and explores the complexities of love, marriage, and societal expectations. The author deftly uses humor and pathos to craft a tale that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, ultimately questioning the rigidity of 19th-century marriage laws and the true nature of romantic love. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
