M is for Mitten, A Michigan Alphabet was written by Annie Appleford, has poems by Kathy-jo Wargin and is illustrated by Michael G. Monroe The book was published by Sleeping Bear Press in 1994. This book as a number line that indicates that it's First Edition, FOURTH Printing. It HAS been straight signed by the illustrator, Michael Monroe on the title page. It is NOT an ex-library copy and both the book and the dust jacket are in very good + condition though there is a tiny square on the front flap that has been cut on where, perhaps, a price had been. The book is 11 1/4" by 9 1/8" and has about 30 glossy pages with color illustrations on every page. "Young children will enjoy learning the alphabet with the colorful illustrations and playful rhymes. Older children and adults may discover facts they didn't know." It IS in good enough shape that it could well be given as a gift. Thank you! Signed by Illustrator(s).

This book was published to accompany an exhibition at the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, April 28, 1995 through September 4, 1995. Opening statement by Hillary Rodham Clinton. Michael W. Monroe, Curator-in-Charge of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American Art, selected this collection of fine contemporary crafts specifically for the interiors of the White House, to be viewed and admired alongside the works of the past. This volume features 92 full-color photographs--some showcasing the pieces in the private quarters and public spaces of the White House--taken expressly for this book by John Bigelow Taylor. In addition to an introduction to the collection and commentaries on each piece by Michael Monroe, the book includes an essay on the significance and cultural value of crafts by Barbaralee Diamonstein, a foreword by Elizabeth Broun, Director of the National Museum of American Art, and brief biographies of each artist.
