L'autore, convinto seguace delle dottrine del medico inglese, ribatte punto per punto alle obiezioni dello Strambio, ed afferma con ogni mezzo la correttezza degli insegnamenti del maestro. John Brown (1735-1788) fu il creatore del sistema chiamato Brownianismo, secondo cui lo stato di salute non Ë un fatto normale e spontaneo, ma un equilibrio tra continui stimoli: ogni sproporzione tra lo stimolo e l'eccitabilit? di un organo ha come conseguenza uno stato morboso. Secondo tale sistema i rimedi sono perlopi? costituiti da sedativi negli stati di eccessiva agitazione e da eccitanti negli stati di depressione. In Italia ebbe parecchio favore e si diffuse rapidamente nelle universit? e nelle accademie della Penisola, ove suscitÚ discussioni infinite.Segue una lettera di Mocini al dott. Carlo Buccio, di cui il De Renzi scrive (DE RENZI, V, p. 600): "Giuseppe Mocini, idolatra delle dottrine Browniane, pubblicÚ una lettera diretta al dottor Buccio, nella quale facendo l'apologia di quelle dottrine, acremente confutava coloro che le avevano censurate." Interessante anche per le indicazioni sulla cura di una sciatica con i metodi browniniani.Esemplare discreto anche se leggermente brunito.Un foro alla prima carta, rare macchie; marginoso e con barbe.
