Añadir al carritoRilegato. Condición: come nuovo. The staged absence of human community and a democratic public sphere Film and photo artist Mitra Tabrizian (* in Teheran) addresses the relationship between the individual and society, positioning the protagonists in such a way that the political conditions underlying various cultures, regions, and situations are reflected in the composition of the images. Whether the picture is of a banker in the heart of London's Financial District or of women in dark veils in the midst of the desert-like vastness of Iran, the people in them always seem strangely exposed, strewn across space for no apparent reason. People standing in line are isolated from their surroundings, while others are depicted in groups that do not seem to have any internal cohesion. The artist deliberately forfeits the harmony of the golden ratio: although people are classically centered between the foreground and background, the center of the image deteriorates into an inhospitable zone. The publication assembles Tabrizian's most recent works. Designed by: Andreas Platzgummer Texts by: Homi K. Bhabha, Hamid Naficy, David Green English March 2012, 144 Pages , 72 Photos hardcover 219mm x 255mm.…

Paperback. Condición: New. Photographer and filmmaker Mitra Tabrizian was born in Tehran in 1956 and lives and works in London. She has exhibited internationally and her films have been screened worldwide. Her large-scale photographs combine techniques more commonly utilised in documentary film-making to create elaborate, staged tableaux. Focusing on everyday, real-life situations, she invites local people to take part as actors, creating apparently realistic and mundane scenes. At the same time, the version of reality she presents is shot through with surreal detail and a strong allegorical content, commenting both on contemporary Iranian society and the universal human condition. While some of her work is set within Iran itself, other photographs and films follow the lives and struggles of those forced into exile. Recent work has become both more extreme in the situations it portrays and more highly polished in execution, and she depicts hope and determination as finally conquering despair.…

72 photos. Gestaltung: Andreas Platzgummer. Texte von Homi K. Bhabha, Hamid Naficy, David Green. Text in englischer Sprache. (Verlagstext) Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 1600.…
