American Booksellers state that this book is in Japanese and English, it is not, the book is in Chinese and English. No one knows who P'u Ming was or when he wrote these verses or whether he is also responsible for the accompanying woodblock pictures. The earliest edition available was published by Chu Hung in 1609, and despite being one of the most knowledgeable monks of the sixteenth century, Chu Hung didn't know who P'u Ming was either. Unpaginated and printed in China on double-fold cartridge stock. Each poem is printed both in Chinese and English, with accompanying facing full-page wood block illustrations.
