Undated but gift inscription on verso of frontispiece gives 1938 date; first item is 'The Summer House by Edith Millard and cover shows four children and a dog; tightly bound in pictorial boards; light wear to spine edges, top corners slightly bumped. Wear and tear to edges and corners of dust jacket has been neatly mended on inside. Page fore-edges yellowed. Internally, a little yellowing and discolouration to edges; otherwise, a clean, tidy copy. Used - Very Good. VG hardback in Good dust jacket.

Cover has illustration of two children dressed as jester with mask and ballerina with balloons. Illustration also to spine. Boards have bumping, fraying, tear to spine, wear to edges. Prize bookplate to front paste down dated 1930. Tanning to half title page. Verso of this page has b/w ill. Colour frontispiece. Many more b/w ill, many full page, and two further colour plates. Many stories including 'The elf who would not get up', 'The nest by the porch', 'A queer customer', 'Tommy Tucker', etc. Thick pages, with foxing to edges.

(not library), title pge and frontis. have some patches where pges have stuck together and title has childish colouring, name on title, faint foxing on pges and pge edges, many of the b/w pictures have been neatly coloured. Contains some lovely stories for younger children.

A fairy story told in verse about an elf-like cobbler who lives in a tree. Amusing illustrations in line by Harry Neilson, appearing as full- and partial-page. Scarce, with only a handful of institutional copies located, not in Baumgarten. Size: Folio.
