Dust jacket lightly rubbed; slight bumping at edges; some sunning/fading to spine panel. Blue cloth; spine heel minimally bumped; spine's gilt stamped lettering remains bright. Newt Gingrich's ink signature in his usual scrawl on the front free endpaper; Mel Steely's ink signature upon the half-title page. Interior leaves otherwise remain bright and clean. Binding remains fairly crisp. A fine copy in a very good+ dust jacket. Laid-in at the front endpapers is a folded sheet of United States Representative Robert L. Livingston's congressional office stationery which is the only evidence of the book's provenance as it unfortunately lacks a Livingston inscription/signature. Republican Bob Livingston served as U.S. Representative from Louisiana's 1st District from 1977 to 1999 and chaired the House Appropriations Committee from 1995 to 1999 as well as being House Speaker-designate (succeeding Newt Gingrich) before his resignation from office. Mercer University Press does not have a consistent practice regarding edition/printing statements - although this book's copyright page specifically states "First Edition" there is also a "[B]" letter code on the copyright page's text final line which, with some publishers, is indicative of a second printing (so offered with that caveat).
