It is rarer than the author's Systematische Beschreibung der bekannten europäischen Zweiflügeligen Insekten, a similar work on flies, mosquitos, etc. With an armorial bookplate of Rudolf Curtius "??S ????S ????????" mounted on the front pastedowns, and the name Rich. Blaß, as well as a small stamp of A. Vives Moreno in the top margin of the front free endpapers recto. The first 11 plates in old negative copies (thus white drawings on a black background), uniform early 20th century (ca. 1900-1920) brow…n cloth with marbled boards and gilt lettering on spine. Some wear on boards and spine portfolio. Volumes 1-2 are the 1851 edition printed on lower quality paper thus these two with some scattered foxing). Library stamps on free end-papers and title-pages, else a good copy.Apparently the volumes were given in 1970 to the Zoologisch Museum Amsterdam (which no longer exists) by the Dutch botanist and entomologist Gideon Kruseman (1904-1992).
