Hardcover. Small 4to. Blue cloth with silver lettering, pictorial dust jackets. v, 158pp; v, 187pp. Illustrations. Fine/near fine. Both jackets show the most minor of age toning only. Fine print notes Johnson, Fry & Co. of New York as publishers and the year as 1864. In the second volume is an outstanding head-and-shoulders portrait of Robert E. Lee in uniform, oval within a rectangle, and while year of publication is not noted the publisher is D. Appleton & Co. of New York. Volume I is limited to 750 copies, Volume II to 500 copies.…
