Light wear to the binding. The text is a bit toned, and there is some damping at the top edge of the last few pages of the text block. Illustrated with a number of text drawings (listed as "Plates" in different sections) as well as a large folding map at the rear. There is a 4 or 5 inch closed tear on the folding map.

There are a number of illustrations and plates through-out the text, and a very large f/o map of "Sevastopol Shewing the Russian Defense Works and the Approaches of the Allied Armies" attached at the back. There are two tears where it attaches, 1 1/2" and 5 1/2" diagonal into one of the panels, both with old tape repairs. Flat spine with five sections. Gilt-stamped lettering in sections one, two and four. Age-toned to edges and pages. Light, intermittent foxing, mostly toward the front and back and on the map. Text block is snug.
