Original green cloth binding with gilt titles to spine and black game bird to front board in good condition with shelf wear to top & tail of spine, som…e rubbing to edges and tips of bevelled boards with small nicks down sides of spine. Hinges are a little weak but binding still solid. Inside title page has transfer of photographic frontis with all other pages, almost all uncut, and the 2 maps to rear in very good, clean condition with the odd spot. This important work by Rev. Murray A. Mathew, member of British Ornithologists' Union and Fellow of the Linnean Society provided the first comprehensive study of the bird populations in Pembrokeshire. Scarce.

Impeccably connected, Pleydell-Bouverie was also the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII, and rumoured to be a lover of King Edward VIII. A sparkling figure of fashionable society, her friends included Nancy Mitford, Coco Chanel, Winston Churchill, and Fred Astaire. This work is from the sale of Pleydell-Bouverie"s library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire.
