Mouillures claires surtout des pages 186 à 243 en marge inférieure puis en pages 339-349. Nonobstant ces petits défauts bel exemplaire, petit manque de cuir au plat inférieur. Les Commentarii in sex libros pedacii Dioscoridis de Pierandrea Mattioli publiés en 1544 en Italien et en latin la même année ont connu très vite un vif succès. Il s'agit ici de la toute première édition en langue française opérée par Martin Mathée médecin, humaniste sur le texte latin en 1553 on voit plus souvent l'édition de 1559, il sera édité six fois entre 1553 et 1580. Comprenant une riche iconographie de bois gravés (botanique et animalier) notre exemplaire est pour lui d'être en belle condition.

Edition originale de la traduction française de l'histoire ecclésiastique de Théodoret (vers 386 - 457), qui commence avec l'arianisme sous Constantin et finit à la mort de Théodore de Mopsueste (429). "Il ne faut pas attendre de l'auteur une parfaire impartialité, mais c'est un témoin bien informé et de bonne foi' (Hoefer). Les pièces liminaires contiennent une épître du traducteur, Dom Martin Mathée prieur de l'abbaye de Monstierneuf de Poitiers à Jehan Boucher, ainsi que la réponse de ce dernier dans laquelle l'historien poitevin flatte l'érudition du traducteur et se pose en défenseur de la langue française et de l'intérêt des traductions : " plusieurs concionateurs detractent des livres traduicts ou composés en Françoys, dont je ne puis entendre la cause, parce qu'eulx mesmes ont esté, ou sont encores curieux de secretement les lire, pour apprendre la doulceur de la langue Françoyse, aujourd'huy tant aornée, faconde & bien polie".
