Vol. I contains the following: De Quincey's satirical series, Murder Considered as One of the Fine Arts; Early Memorials of Grasmere; and Revolt of the Tartars. The following are in Vol. II: The Spanish Military Nun, The English Mail-Coach, and Suspira de Profundis: Being a Sequel to the "Confession of an English Opium-Eater." Thomas De Quincey (1785-1859) was an English author, essayist, and literary critic. He is perhaps known for his autobiographical work, Confessions of an English Opium-Eater (1821), which is not included in this collection of essays.
