Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: VG. Text free of underlining, writing and highlighting. Very nice clean copy. FOREWORD ~\~Toah's Raven by Mary Lucier is a double landmark L V for The Toledo Museum of Art. It is the first work of art ever commissioned as an entire exhibition by the Museum. It also represents the Museum's first involvement with the production of a major work in the relatively new medium of video installation. Credit for the idea behind the exhibition goes to Robert F. Phillips, chairman of the curatorial department and curator of contemporary art. Only an individual with his rare combination of enthusiasm, insight, and practicality could have brought this project to fruition. Robert Phillips and our then chair of museum education, Rose Glennon, together recommended that the Museum introduce Mary Lucier's work to northwest Ohio. In 1989 Mary Lucier was invited to present the Museum with a comprehensive exhibition proposal for Noah's Raven, a new video installation she wanted to create. Impressed by the visual beauty, expressive content, and originality of her earlier installations, particularly Ohio at Giverny and Wilderness, and convinced of the potential of the proposed new work, we enthusiastically agreed to commission Noah's Raven if the Museum could secure funding to underwrite part of the substantial costs of this ambitious project. Our success in receiving a grant from the Ohio Arts Council's New Works Program was crucial in two respects. First, it provided funding to start production, which eventually stretched over two years, including weeks of travel for the artist to shoot footage and months of editing. Second, it demonstrated how very widespread interest has developed in Mary Lucier's work and the strong appeal of her concept for Noah's Raven. Additional grants awarded by the Ohio Arts Council, the Lannan Foundation in Los Angeles, and the National Endowment for the Arts provided vital support for the installation, educational programs, and exhibition catalogue. This exhibition would have been impossible for the Museum to undertake without their help. While the staffs of every department of the Museum contributed to the success of Noah's Raven, space limitations preclude listing them all here. The staff team that took the lead role in organizing and presenting the exhibition consisted of the following individuals: Robert Phillips served as project director; Joan Babkiewicz, manager of development, coordinated grant applications; Darlene Lindner, curatorial administrative assistant, coordinated project scheduling, secretarial services, and budgeting; Sandra E. Knudsen, coordinator of publications, directed and edited this publication; Steve Frushour, associate coordinator of exhibitions, and our art handlers worked closely with the artist to realize the installation; Donna Niehous, special project assistant, was responsible for organizing the exhibition tour to other museums; and insurance and shipping arrangements were managed by Patricia Whitesides, registrar, and Steve Nowak, associate registrar. Credits for \ 48 pages.

Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. Two issues of this superbly produced magazine of art and architecture published in Spain. Each about 400 pages, text mostly in Spanish but with much in English as well. Many photographs and reproductions in color and black and white, truly a dense and deep publication. In excellent condition for the most part, with some bumping at the corner tips in parts of both at the bottom and slightly larger bump to the upper corner of about 1/2 of issue 4, still not effecting the text or images much. Issue 4 has a little bump about the spine edge which does not effect the binding whatsoever. Minor sun fading to spine of both issues. Some light scuffs and scratches to the covers of both but hardly so and in clean presentable condition. Oddly both covers present the number of the previous issue, so that issue 3 has the number 2 on the front and issue 4 has the number 3. The theme of number 3 is "habitacion / room" and the theme of number 4 is "casa / house." Issue 3 contributors are Colexio Oficial de Arquitectos de Galicia Craig Kalpakjian, Erwan Bouroullec, Pablo Gallego Picard, Ronan Bouroullec, Erwan Bouroullec, Rosemary Laing, Robin Evans, Mary Lucier, Michael Rakowitz, Casey Mack, María Asunción Salgado de la Rosa, Larry Sultan, Mathias Goeritz, Juan Creus Andrade, Chus Pato, Anxos Romeo, Estevo Creus, Yolanda Castaño, Marco Aristògatoff Issue 4 contributors are Thomas Roma, Jonas Dahlberg, José Manuel Gallego Jorreto, Jorge Pardo, Claus Carstensen, Jes Vagnby, Erik Nielsen, Maria Papadimitriou, Yorghos Tzirtilakis, Isidro Blasco, Fernando Quesada López, Holger Klein, Pamela Theodora, Bobby Baker, Herme Ciscar, Mónica García, Tanja Jordan, María Fullaondo Buigas de Dalmau, Txuma Sánchez, Santiago Alba Rico
