Houts (1919?1993) was an attorney, professor, and served in both the FBI and CIA. He was the author of 44 books including "Lawyer's Guide to Medical Proof", "Where Death Delights". He inspired the popular TV show Quincy, starring Jack Klugman as an LA County medical examiner who routinely engaged in police investigations. In 1959 Houts created "TRAUMA", the authoritative ongoing medico-legal serial guide to every kind of trauma. With his extensive unerstanding of this intersection of law and medicine , Houts actually helped create the Quincy television series which ran from 1977-1983. He edited and published TRAUMA until his death. It is packed with insights and sample court examinations on every type of medico-legal issue imaginable. Earl Stanley Gardner dedicated his 63rd Perry Mason book, The Case of the Shapely Shadow, to Houts for the "outstanding work he is doing in the field of legal medicine.".…
