Grey boards, spine & upper board titled in gilt. Fine new copy in dust-wrapper. "This book tells the story of Ivan Marks and the original Leicester Likely Lads (Roy Marlow, Dave Downes, Dave Rossi, Brian Envis, Howard Humphrey, John Essex, Robin Grouse and Phil Coles). It tells how they met, how they fished, the waters they fished, the matches they won, their methods, bait and tackle, and how they came to dominate a golden age of match fishing in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It tells of their chequered National career and how world success eluded Ivan. Ivan Marks wasn't just the finest match angler of his generation, he was perhaps the greatest of all time; he was certainly a dominant celebrity in a sport where such characters are rare. He dominated the sport in the 1960s and 1970s, and was still successful in the 1980s, winning a succession of massive championships and many big open matches. His outstanding ability brought him a regular England place. His Leicester team-mates shared in his success, winning many team events, including the last of the All-England Nationals, and a further National win in 1974. A must read for any match fishing or Ivan Marks fan!" .

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A very nice copy of the first impression with clean pages throughout. The boards are lovely and fresh looking with crisp gilt title lettering on the sine. The edge have become somewhat discoloured, probably from being exposed to sunlight, where they protrude the dust jacket. Not that noticeable except on closer inspection. The book is signed by co-author, Goodwin, dated April '75 "To Geoff and Stan with many thanks and best wishes, John Goodwin, April '75" The page block edge appears toned, probably from sun discolouration. The dust jacket is pretty bright and unclipped, albeit with a hint of edge wear and a touch of sun fading. Great copy in all. Signed by Author(s).

Añadir al carritohardcover. Condición: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.
