And what are the implications and consequences of these transformations? In this vein, the Element identifies a number of processes of change as outlined in the literature, going from the expansion of the repertoires of contention to the normalization of protest and of the protesters, and the shifting scale of contention to more individual-level processes such as the individualization and digitalization of protest. The Element's aim is to provide a critical discussion of scholarship on the transformation of protest politics and social movement activism.

How Big Oil can transform itself into Big Green through reparation and decarbonization to rectify the harm it has done through fossil fuels. How Big Oil can transform itself into Big Green through reparation and decarbonization to rectify the harm it has done through fossil fuels. In From Big Oil to Big Green, Marco Grasso examines the responsibility of the oil and gas industry for the climate crisis and develops a moral framework that lays out its duties of reparation and decarbonization to allay the harm it has done. By framing climate change as a moral issue and outlining the industry's obligation to tackle it, Grasso shows that Big Oil is a central, yet overlooked, agent of climate ethics and policy.Grasso argues that by indiscriminately flooding the global economy with fossil fuels-while convincing the public that halting climate change is a matter of consumer choice, that fossil fuels are synonymous with energy, and that a decarbonized world would take civilization back to the Stone Age-Big Oil is morally responsible for the climate crisis. He explains that it has managed to avoid being held financially accountable for past harm and that its duty of reparation has never been theoretically developed or justified. With this book, he fills those gaps. After making the moral case for climate reparations and their implementation, Grasso develops Big Oil's duty of decarbonization, which entails its transformation into Big Green by phasing out carbon emissions from its processes and, especially, its products. "The book addresses an issue of fast-growing concern in the academic and non-academic debate on climate change: the role and responsibility of the oil and gas industry, and the consequent implications for climate policy and politics, and for the governance of climate change"-- Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

This book presents itself as a new transformative-emancipatory path: it attempts to reconcile the sphere of humanity, and particularly that of dignity, with the dimensions of conscience, vulnerability, and identity. These dimensions cross several cultural boundaries and encompass various theoretical hypotheses, in line with certain critical ontologies.Present society highlights increasing levels of inequality. Ethics should try to create constructivist bridges, which the author shows by a meta-ontological model, described in its «centripetal» inclination. If we do not respect ourselves, others, and the environment that hosts us, we will never be able to define ourselves as «human» beings, that is, beings endowed with «dignity». Any responsibility makes sense to the extent that this respect - which we could include in the category of «taking care» - constitutes the epistemological background of ethical lives.
