Añadir al carritoSoftcover. Condición: vg. First edition. Large octavo. 48pp. Original printed wrappers. Fascinating study in which the authors tried to answer the following questions: What common values and beliefs, what interests and needs, are responsible for the existence of a Jewish community, however it may be defined?; What does an Americ…an Jew mean when he identifies himself as Jewish?; What is the relationship between his feeling of belongingness to the Jewish group and his loyalties to its country and its institutions?; What conflicts are engendered in him by his belief in the existence of a hostile environment? By his belief that in some respects his way of life, like his religion, may differ from that of most of his fellow citizens? How does this affect his attitudes towards his Gentile neighbors? What does he think they think of him? To try to answer these questions, the authors went to the industrial town of Riverton with a population of about 130,000 people, including 8500 Jews. They selected families with teenage children, and interviewed both parents and teenagers. Minor age-toning along edges of wrappers. Wrappers in overall very good, interior in near to fine condition.
