Condición: Sehr gut. 8°. 22 x 15,5 cm. [144] Blatt; 175 Seiten. Faksimile: Original-Lederband mit reicher Deckel-, Rücken- und Kantengoldprägung, marmorierten Vorsätzen und Rundum-Goldschnitt. Kommentar: Original-Leinenband. Original-Leinenschuber. Sehr gutes Exemplar. Facsimile: Original leather binding with richly gilt-stamped cover, spine and edges, marbled endpapers. Commentary: Original cloth binding. Original cloth slipcase. Full facsimile of the Briçonnet Hours from around 1485, which is kept in the Teylers Museum in Haarlem (shelfmark Ms. 78). Number 135 of 680 copies numbered in Arabic numerals. Bilingual edition in Latin (facsimile) and German (commentary). With 25 full-page miniatures in vibrant colours, decorated with delicate gold highlights and silver parts, numerous gilded ornamental initials with trompe-l'il gemstones and pearls and coloured line fillers on a fine brush gold ground. Commentary volume with contributions by Pierre-Gilles Girault, Mara Hofmann, Chrsitine Seidel, Roger S. Wieck. The colour printing and the reproduction of gold and silver were carried out by Platinum fine art print GmbH in Graz. All bookbinding work was carried out by the Steinbrener bookbindery in Schärding. The Briçonnet Book of Hours was created by a master whom contemporaries mentioned in the same breath as artists such as Jean Fouquet, Rogier van der Weyden, Hugo van der Goes, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo: Jean Poyer. Born in Tours around 1445, he was one of the best book and panel painters of the 15th century. He worked for three kings of France and their wives between 1465 and 1503, and the Briçonnet Book of Hours is the first work of book illumination attributed to him. In his work, Jean Poyer was recognisably influenced by the architecture and art of the early Italian Renaissance, which he knew from his own experience. Slipcase and leather binding minimally rubbed. Fine copy. Sprache: Deutsch und Latein.…
