As the son of a clothing textile merchant, he is inspired by the vivid colours and materiality of the fabrics. Cotton, jute, canvas, newspaper, and thread are scratched, folded, and pressed into geometrical shapes, designs, or panel pieces. Nai transforms the shabby, lived-in, and character-filled materials into neat constructions.
