Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. In the spring of 1921 the failed Kronstadt Rebellion sent thousands of Kronstadt Sailors to their death as martyrs to Russia's third civil war. While many of the Kronstadt Sailors were executed outside of Petrograd as traitors to the new communist regime there were some who fled Russia to Finland or wandered along the Russian countryside trying to blend back into society. About that time the American Relief Administration under Herbert Hoover was organizing to feed millions of Russians due to the terrible drought and famine that was ravaging the country along with disease and pestilence. It is here that two cultures, one Russian and the other Texan collide and join in a way that no one could have foreseen. Ex-Col. Viktor Resnik, a Kronstadt sailor branded a criminal, on the run, disillusioned and angry is a man in search of his true nature after twenty five years of service in the Russian navy. During Viktor's trail home he is thrown into the path of Lou Morgan, a widow from Texas who is helping the A.R.A. as it organizes and tries to feed Russia's starving population. Touched by Lou in ways he could not have predicted Viktor forces the young woman against her will to travel hundreds of miles to his childhood village. Together the pair takes a journey across Russia learning that despite where one believes one is traveling you never really know your destination until you get there. This item is printed on demand.
