Louis Le Chatelier (1815 - 1873) was a French engineer who played a major role in French industry. He studied at the Ecole Polytechnique from 1834 to 1836, and became a mining engineer. He contributed to the development of a method for extracting alumina from bauxite and the introduction of the Siemens-Martin processes in the steel industry, and the development of rail transport. Friend and collaborator of Eugene Flachat, it is one of the developers of Railways in France. Flachat Eugene (1802 - 1873), was a French civil engineer. He worked on one of the first lines of French railway French from Paris - Le Pecq inaugurated August 28, 1837, then to that of Paris to Rouen (1840-1842). Remembered today for redesigning the Gare Saint-Lazare railway station in Paris in 1851 and Other railroad related projects.
