Her minimalist approach utilized natural light and a simple camera setup, allowing her to seize spontaneous moments that revealed the essence of her subjects. Throughout her career, Bown received numerous accolades, including being appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1985 and Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1995. Her work has been exhibited at prestigious institutions like the National Portrait Gallery in London and is held in various permanent collections.
