There is no edition or print information on copy right page; It does state: 'Printed in Great Britain by Thomas Nelson and Sons, LTD". and that this is a "Told to the Children Series". We researched this on OpenLIbrary and used a publication date of 1910 found for this issue. This would make this book 115+ years old. Extremely unusual to find a children's book this old in excellent condition. See pictures. This book size is approximately 5" W by 6" L.; it has eight full page colored illustrations to accompany three stories. The illustrations are in the style of Art Nouveaou; very beautiful on their own glossy pages. Pages have a thicker cottony feel and have browned due to age. Binding is firm. No loose signatures. There are NO creases nor any writing. There are a few pages with closed tears and chipping on the pages that were uncut at publication. One fold remains uncut. Red illustrated cloth covered boards are clean and bright despite no DJ. Back cover is soil spotted and there is edge wear, with lightly bumped corners. Light sunning to spine but lettering on cover and spine is i very readable. This is NOT an ex-lib nor a remainder. See pictures.

Couple of slight creases to cloth. Red cloth with black lettering. No date but circa 1920s. Any originality of intention or tr4eatment must be disclaimed for 'A Staircase of Stories'. Its title, appeal, and aim have been alike suggested by 'The Golden Staircase', a volume of 'Poems and Verses for Children between the Ages of Four and Fiourteen'. The title indicates, as did that of its predeccor, a gradual ascent in difficulty as the pages are turned. The difficulty may be greater complexity of plot or less simple presentation. The appeal is again to children between the ages of four and fourteen soley on what it us believed children will most enjoy. Individual acknowledgement of permission to include copyright stories is made in the text. Without the persomission some og the best must have been omitted.
