Añadir al carritoUnbound Pages. Condición: Very Good. Fourth Edition. A sensational case of seduction, family rupture, and social disgrace. Lord Grey and the Charnocks stand accused of corrupting Lady Henrietta Berkeley and encouraging her to defy her family. The proceedings reveal a world of clandestine meetings, divided loyalties, and the moral anxieties of Restoration society, all played out before the Kings Bench. 14 PAGES, printed in double columns. A genuine 1776 printing taken from the authoritative Complete Collection of State Trials. Originally compiled to serve both as a legal reference and a vehicle of political discourse, the State Trials series shaped contemporary and subsequent understanding of justice, authority, and dissent. The generously sized sheets on which these trials are printed offer particular pleasure to the eye and hand, bearing clear signs of their handmade origin: chain lines and wire impressions from the mould are readily visible, some pages display watermarks, and the paper varies subtly in thickness, all characteristic of 18th century rag paper. This particular trial report has been preserved in a modern card cover, prepared for practicality - an unassuming but serviceable presentation that favours function over finery. Size: 30 x 47 cms. Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a rare and intimate glimpse into the tumultuous political landscape of late 17th-century England, exploring the complex web of conspiracies and rebellions that shook the nation. The author, a key participant in these events, provides a firsthand account of the Rye House Plot, a plan to assassinate King Charles II, and the subsequent rebellion led by the Duke of Monmouth against King James II. The book delves into the inner workings of these plots, revealing the motivations, strategies, and personalities of those involved. Through the authorââ â¢s detailed confessions, we witness firsthand the shifting alliances, betrayals, and desperate maneuvers that characterized this turbulent period. The authorââ â¢s account shines a light on the underlying tensions of the era, including religious and political divisions, and the desire for power and influence that fueled these clandestine operations. The book offers a captivating perspective on a pivotal moment in English history, providing readers with a deeper understanding of the forces at play and the individuals who shaped this turbulent period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
