A collection of the letters of Horace Walpole, the English writer, art historian and Whig politician, to Sir Horace Mann, British Envoy at the Court of Tuscany. Walpole is best known for his Gothic novel, 'The Castle of Otranto'. His letters have gained popularity and are of social and political interest. Edited by Lord Dover. In full cloth binding. Externally, excellent with minor shelf wear. Fading to the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Binding slightly worn to the centres of volume two and three, but still very firm. Pages very bright and clean with the odd spot and the occasional mark. Foxing to the frontispiece in volume one, and some offsetting to the surrounding pages as a result.
