"Loomis left Iowa with the Birmingham Emigrating Company on April 11, 1850, and followed the California Trail. He crossed over the Sierra Nevada by way of Carson Pass and arrived at Ringgold, near Pl…acerville, on August 13 and at Sacramento on the 15th, 103 days and 2,182 miles from departure. Loomis concluded his journal with a lengthy description of 'Sacrimento Sitty.' The pioneer, along with his brothers, sold, cattle to the mining camps and, in 1851, settled in Weaverville, Trinity County." Octavo: [xiv], 198 pp. with 17 halftone plates and a folding map. Original brown cloth binding, with black-stamped titling and borders. Previous owner's ink signature to the front flyleaf. The spine is a little toned; otherwise very good.
