The book is part of the kinaesthetic archive project which experiments with how the mobile, textured, abstract and kinaesthetic thinking that occurs in performance research might be articulated through different kinds of writing practices. Artist books perform a series of page works. Abstract qualities that are central in practice-led research such as felt affect, physical tone, texture, space, intuitive sensing and the porousness of touch are evoked through a poetic written register that also attends to the choreography and materiality of the page. The accompanying essay discusses practice-led and critical issues that contextualised the creative process of choreographic writing. Writing has been cast as monstrous or at least violent- in its ability to disfigure, maim and destroy the life of the live arts. This project explores writing that is coextensive with dance practice, in relation to critical theory that engages with writing as performance. The Radio Strainer text is set in the font Avenir. Non-transparent pages are printed on 100% recycled fibre, coloured with water soluble vegetable dyes and are not bleached or de-inked. Each book is composed individually by the author, in different experiments with sequence. Some books are organised around narrative, some chronology of when texts first emerged, some in relation to colour, some with the sense of palimpsest between transparent and standard paper. Other versions are organised around qualities of dramaturgy, text or character. This edition of Radio Strainer is printed in a limited edition of 40 copies.

Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Making space for imagination can shift research and community planning from a reflective stance to a 'future forming' orientation and practice. Cultural mapping is an emerging discourse of collaborative, community-based inquiry and advocacy. This book looks at artistic approaches to cultural mapping, focusing on imaginative cartography. It emphasizes the importance of creative process that engages with the 'felt sense' of community experiences, an element often missing from conventional mapping practices. International artistic contributions in this book reveal the creative research practices and languages of artists, a prerequisite to understanding the multi-modal interface of cultural mapping. The book examines how contemporary artistic approaches can challenge conventional asset mapping by animating and honouring the local, giving voice and definition to the vernacular, or recognizing the notion of place as inhabited by story and history. It explores the processes of seeing and listening and the importance of the aesthetic as a key component of community self-expression and self-representation.Innovative contributions in this book champion inclusion and experimentation, expose unacknowledged power relations, and catalyze identity formation, through multiple modes of artistic representation and performance. It will be a valuable resource for individuals involved with creative research methods, performance, and cultural mapping as well as social and urban planning.
