Prima edizione di questa divertente opera satirca illustratata da Charles Amédée de Noé noto con lo pseudonimo di Cham (Parigi, 26 gennaio 1818 Parigi, 6 settembre 1879) su testo del noto giornalista e direttore di teatro francese, Auguste Lireux (1814 Rouen - 28 mars 1870). Cham, di nobili origini, suo padre era Conte di Noé e Pari di Francia, nonostante una naturale predisposizione per la matematica, preferì fin da giovane di frequentare le botteghe dei due celebri pittori, Nicolas Toussaint Charlet e Paul Delaroche. La sua opera "Histoire de Mr. Lajaunisse", pubblicata per la prima volta nel 1839, una storia ideata come un susseguirsi di immagini sequenziali sulla scorta dell opera dello svizzero Rodolphe Topffer, è considerato il primo albo a fumetti francese.
