He animated the small world of amateurs by participating in learned societies, promoting the practice, giving conferences, etc. Also a collector, he surrounded himself with several collections of prints: one of the work of Jacques Callot (1,370 pieces), which he sold to the Museum of Fine Arts in the city of Nancy in 1940.
