Stamp is lilac with a portrait of the president. Scott #1286. Slight wear to envelope. Creasing to envelope. Stamp has a cancellation from Hermitage, Tennessee. On the left side of the envelope reads:"Prominent Americans Series: 10 Cent Regular Andrew Jackson; First Day Of Issue" by Fleetwood. There is an address on the front of the envelope in blue ballpoint and the flap of the envelope has been folded inside. To keep the envelope's shape, an index card is inside the envelope.

Appears to be a promotional publication produced for clients and potential clients. Includes images of design projects dating from 1934 to circa1962. Good condition overall, glassine coating separating from cover (protected by a clear mylar wrapper), interior very clean, light lower right and left corner bumps, binding tight.

No Binding. Condición: Very Good. Very uncommon publication from 1968 which contains a bounty of American trademarked logos from the heyday of the post-war graphic design and advertising boon. In Black cardboard slipcase foil-stamped in white, with a 56 page booklet, 16 sheets that fold out to 4 panels, and 45 single panel sheets. An amazing document in a visually compelling format. This copy generally very nice, with some heavier wear to the slipcase, but the inner contents are in excellent, superb, crisp condition, appears scarcely looked through at all. The case itself, thought still intact, is a bit wobbly, and is missing about 1" of one of the sides, and what remains on both sides is slightly curled and peeled up form the joining cardboard underneath, leaving it a bit precarious as is (could likely be fixed up easily with PVA glue and happy to do that for anyone interested). Some further fraying at the sides and some light rubbing to covers besdes. As mentioned, all interior contents are nearly as new, remarkably so given the age. Booklet has some minor toning around edges of the back cover, and one or two of the sheets has the slightest bit of corner wear, but generally superb. Black slipcase contains 16 [8.5" x 8.5"] 4-panel sheets, 25 [8.5" x 8.5"] loose sheets and a 56-page [8.5" x 8.5"] perfect-bound booklet. From the introduction: "193 American trademarks, symbols and logotypes were chosen by a jury of leaders in the field of design to be represented in Trademarks/USA, the first national retrospective exhibition of its kind, which opened April 22, 1964 at the National Design Center in Marina City, Chicago, under the auspices of the Society of Typographic Arts." An amazing document that chronicles the rise of the American trademark after World War II, and by extension the graphic design profession as well. Essays include the introduction for "Trademarks/USA" including the President's Message and 5 b/w photos of jury members, an essay called The Trademark: A Graphic Summation of Individuality by Lester Beall including 5 b/w photos of the exhibition. Portfolio. Condición: Used. Are you sitting down? This one is just . . . awesome. We know that's a lame word. Awesome. But we are in some awe. This is a showing of 193 American trademarks, symbols, and logotypes chosen by a jury of leaders in the field of design (by which we mean men) that was represented in TRADEMARKS/USA, the first national retrospective exhibition of its kind. First of all, it is an exceptional showing of what can be done with just two colors: Ebony and ivory, living together in perfect harmony. Second, when we flip through, we see marks we recognize and think, Oh. He designed that?! And then there are other marks we see every day and we think, Oh. Who they heck is that designer?! It's full of surprises. All of these marks are on loose flats, so they'll be perfect for an exhibition (or scanning). In addition to the 193 marks in the show, also included is a 56-page booklet which shows all the logos that were rejected from this exhibition. And even the rejects are good! Or, interesting. We spot some Paul Rands and Saul Basses that were rejected, so even the big boys sometimes missed the mark. The contents are good, but a little soiled with age as one would expect. The slipcase is in very poor shape, in some places held together with tape. 680.

First Edition. Lithographed poster in colors, 101cm x 76.5cm (ca 39-3/4" x 30"). A fine example, professionally mounted on archival canvas. One of the most striking homefront posters of the Second World War. Lester Beall (1903-1969) was a pioneer in the use of photomontage in American graphic design, especially famous for his series of posters for the U.S. Rural Electrification Program in the Thirties.
