Decorated by publisher's device on title page. The text of 193 selected letters between German composer, Kurt Weill (1900-50) and his wife, Austrian born actress, Lotte Lenya (1898-1981). Part I is letters translated from the German, 1924-38 and Part II, letters in the original English, 1941-50. Weill is known for his collaboration with Bertolt Brecht, resulting in Die Dreigrosschen Oper (The Threepenny Opera) of 1928. He fled Nazi Germany in 1933 and spent the rest of his life and career in the US, later joined by Lenya. Edited by Lys Symonette, German born Berta Weinschenk (1914-2005), pianist, choral singer and stage performer, who also fled Nazi Germany and later in the US became Kurt Weill's musical assistant; and by Kim H.
