Vintage borderless lobby card for the 1960 Italian film. From the collection of artist and author Duncan Hannah. Duncan Hannah was a key figure in the burgeoning New York underground arts scene, befriending Andy Warhol and his superstars, Lou Reed, Allen Ginsberg, Patti Smith, Salvador Dali, and many others. A graduate of the Pa…rsons School of Design, his paintings were exhibited in the influential 1980 Times Square Show alongside work by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and several of his paintings are held in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Based on several short stories by Alberto Moravia. Spurred on by his girlfriend, a young man in the Roman suburbs sets out to look for a day job, but instead finds his mission waylaid by sensual delights. 9.25 x 11.75 inches. Two vintage borderless black-and-white reference still photographs from the 1972 French film "La course du lievre a travers les champs," release in the US as "And Hope to Die." Featured is a rare still of director Clement brandishing a rifle, and a still of actor Trintignant contemplating the true value of a ten-dollar bill. Loo…sely based on David Goodis' 1954 seminal hardboiled novel "Black Friday," a paperback original. A French fugitive heads for Canada and ends up joining a gang of criminals in the midst of kidnapping the mentally-challenged daughter of a rival crimelord. The plan goes accordingly until the girl accidentally dies. Shot on location in Quebec, Canada, and Hauts-de-Seine, France. Both stills 7 x 9.25 inches, borderless as issued. Ink annotations on the versos, else Near Fine overall.

Leben Massari wuchs in ihrer Geburtsstadt Rom, Spanien und Frankreich auf, zuletzt in der Schweiz, wo sie zu Beginn der 1950er Jahre Architektur studierte. Nebenher arbeitete sie als Mannequin und kam durch die Vermittlung des Kostüm- und Szenenbildners Piero Gherardi zum Film. Sie wirkte ab 1954 als zartes, verliebtes Mädchen in mehreren italienischen Filmen mit. Internationale Bekanntheit erlangte sie 1960 durch Michelangelo Antonionis Filmklassiker Die mit der Liebe spielen (Originaltitel: L?avventura) in der Rolle der verträumten Anna, die während eines Inselaufenthaltes spurlos verschwindet. In den 1960er und 70er Jahren spielte Lea Massari in zahlreichen italienischen und französischen Produktionen, deren Handlung meist in der Welt des gehobenen Bürgertums angesiedelt war. Sie verkörperte darin überwiegend liebevolle Frauen. Später war sie auf die Rolle der verständnisvollen Mutter abonniert, so etwa in Louis Malles den Inzest thematisierenden Film Herzflimmern (1971), der internationales Aufsehen erregte. 1973 erhielt Massari für ihr Gesamtwerk einen Étoile de Cristal als beste ausländische Darstellerin. 1979 erhielt sie für ihre Nebenrolle in Francesco Rosis Oscar-nominiertem Film Christus kam nur bis Eboli den Nastro d?Argento des Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani.
