This is all the more remarkable considering it was initiated at a time when international collaboration in Northeast Russia was looked at with great suspicion and visa, permitting and customs problems were common. A glance at Leonid's bibliography will clearly show the range and depth of his involvement in all of the endeavors of this volume.
