4to, approx. 15 lines, approx. 95 words, on Lantz letterhead identifying him as a "bookseller, stationer, and publisher of Dr. Wm. A. Alcott's Slate & Black Board Exercises, and Alcott's Confessions of a Schoolmaster." Lantz asks for lienency on his credit with the Merriams: In part: "I am compelled from the state of financal affairs to ask a little forebearance from some of my purchases. When I purchased the Dictionaries from you to be paid in April next, no one hadd any thought of what was coming. The Dictionaries I have nearly all on hand yet, business with us is utterly prostrated.".
