From the library of agent/publisher Forrest Ackerman, who promoted the movie of Von Harbou's "Metropolis" and later published the script.

Vintage UK program for the 1928 German film, released in the UK as "The Spy." Lang's followup to "Metropolis," and penultimate silent film, an underrated spy versus spy thriller containing some of the most virtuosic set pieces of the director's career, including a spectacular train crash at the film's climax. 9.5 x 12 inches, 12 pages, side stapled in card wrappers. Wrappers Very Good plus overall, interior bright and Near Fine.

No copies of this rare edition are recorded in "WorldCat". Somewhat browned and with marginal tears. Overall a really nicely preserved copy, of the hungarian first edition. For good archiving, in a custom-fitted slipcase. Otherwise esimated by 3.300 Euro.

Original German programs for the two-part film series "Die Nibelungen," including one for "Die Nibelungen: Siegfried" and one for "Die Nibelungen: Kriemhild's Revenge," produced by German film magazine "Film-Kurier." Text in German. Based on the thirteenth century epic poem "Nibelungenlied." "Film-Kurier" was the first German film journal, published daily beginning in 1919. The journal's classic era lasted until 1933, when its publisher, Alfred Weiner, had to flee Germany due to his Jewish origins. The issues from this era remain striking to this day because they were printed using a gravure reproduction process. Each day's issue would focus on a single film. 9 x 11.75 inches. Lang's first sound film, Peter Lorre's breakthrough role, and the film Lang considered to be his masterpiece-an assertion that has found much agreement since. The only second piece of ephemera from the film we have ever offered. Text in German. Issue No. 262 of "Illustrierter Film-Kurier," one of the oldest European film magazines, which ran weekly from 1929 to 1956. Like its German counterpart, "Film-Kurier," each issue focused on a single film and used a gravure process to reproduce images from the film, making for striking images and design. 6 x 9 inches. Six pages, saddle stapled. Ink annotations throughout, seemingly regarding layout, affecting a bit of text but no images. This copy with an alternate jacket-differing completely with the one referenced in Rössler's "Filmfieber." Rare in dust jacket. Basis for the German silent film classic by Fritz Lang, with a screenplay adapted by von Harbou from her novel. Released in the US as "Woman in the Moon." Like "Metropolis," a novel that was conceived and executed simultaneously with the film. It is also generally recognized as the first serious film to portray space travel (preceded by Georges Melies' equally important but more comic 1902 silent, "La voyage dans la lune"). It was the first film to introduce the basics of rocket travel to a mass audience, including the use of a multi-stage rocket, and was the first instance in a film of a "countdown to zero" being used prior to a rocket launch. Jacket design by S.B. Singer, with his motif on the front panel artwork. Near Fine, with no rubbing to the gilt, only some scattered foxing and a tiny splash to the otherwise bright yellow topstain, and with gold cloth ribbon bookmark intact, in a Very Good plus dust jacket, with minor wear at the corner, a bit of even toning to the spine panel, and light fray at the crown. Also included is a supplemental program for UFA theaters, featuring another brief essay on the film by starring actor Rudolf Klein-Rogge, information and photographs relating to UFA theaters, and advertisements. Text of both items in German. Based on the thirteenth century epic poem "Nibelungenlied." Program: Near Fine in heavy paper wrappers and string binding. Une anticipation de la cité futur au cinéma. "La Petite Illustration Cinématographique" fut créée en 1925 jusqu'en 1928 (13 numéros) et "raconte" un film de l'époque. Celui-ci est le numéro 11. Une véritable étude critique tant sur l'étude des personnages tant que technique sur le déroulement du tournage. Ces revue furent "signées" par Robert De Beauplan. Bon état; défraîchi avec très petit manque à la page 12 sans alterner la lecture.

Previously filmed in 1921 as the silent film "The Indian Tomb," directed by Joe May and starring Conrad Veidt and Mia May, with a screenplay written by von Harbou and Lang (who was originally slated to direct), and in 1938 as the German film "Der Tiger von Eschnapur," directed by Richard Eichberg, starring Philip Dorn and La Jana. Lang returned to the material some forty years later, and divided the story into two films to avoid the lengthy three and a half hour running time of the original silent film. A German architect travels to the remote Indian city of Eschnapur to oversee work being done at the behest of the Maharajah, and falls in love with a beautiful temple dancer, who the Maharajah also loves.
