Reliure en plein velin framboise d'époque. Dos lisse orné. Ensemble au dos et aux mors très frottés. Les dorures du dos sont quasiment invisibles. Coiffe de tête détachée et coiffe de queue arrachée. 2 coins émolussés, les 2 autres frottés. En 55 courts chapitres, l'auteur a composé des maximes rimées, sur le bonheur de l'homme, l'armée, la science. non sans quelques références et portraits dissimulés des grands princes de la monarchie autro-hongroise. Cette édition, rare, a certainement été réalisée à compte d'auteur avec un faible tirage. On en trouve dans les bibliothèques d'Autriche mais ni en France, ni en Angleterre. | [ENGLISH DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS] The rare first edition, illustrated with an engraved title featuring a large vignette within a portico, the title on the pediment, 4 beautiful figures finely engraved and drawn by Landerer (including Camp of the royal troops in Moravia, mausoleum erected by the empress for the Prince of Lichtenstein.) and 2 vignettes at the bottom of the page (View of Schloschof castle). Contemporary full raspberry vellum binding. Smooth spine decorated. Spine and joints heavily worn overall. The gilt on the spine is almost invisible. Head cap detached and tail cap torn off. 2 corners bumped, the other 2 rubbed. In 55 short chapters, the author composed rhyming maxims on human happiness, the army, science. not without some references and concealed portraits of the great princes of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. This rare edition was certainly self-published with a small print run. Copies can be found in Austrian libraries but neither in France nor England. * 42f.

Original copper engraving by Ferdinand Landerer after Victor Pillemant, circa 1790, on laid paper. Below the image is a dedication in French to Prince Albert of Saxony, King of Hungary. Professionally mounted behind glass/passe-partout by a gallery in a partially gilded wooden frame. Not examined out of the frame. Image dimensions: 30.5 x 40.5 cm. Frame dimensions: 50.5 x 59.5 cm. Very good condition.
