This volume of gentle bucolic essays is very vague as to locations but the photos reveal Leeds Castle and chapters on Hopping betray Kentish origins, this is a Kent without cars or bustle. According to the British Library, the author's name is a pseudonym for Roy Frank Johnson. A bonnet laird was a small Scottish landowner, who wore a bonnet like an ordinary countryman. Scarce.
