With a printed presentation leaf bound in as the frontispiece, dated 1672, for "Insignes in artibus humanioribus progressus," signed in ink Jacobus Gliblotz (?). "Elegantly printed by Plantin: with a prettily engraved portrait of Torrentius who was Bishop of Antwerp. 'Critica et inter principes numeranda est editio,' say Harles and Mitscherlich. Harwood also observes that the notes of Torrentius are 'accurate and judicious.' It seems that Torrentius had access to many mss. at Rome, among the most valuable of which was the Codex Laurentianus; but as Torrentius did not live to give the finishing corrections to his edition, the readings of these mss. are not embodied in the volume. The notes of Torrentius do not extend beyond the second epistle of the second book: to the Ars Poetica the commentary of Nannius is subjoined" (Dibdin). Mills College Check List 265.
