Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the increase in professional opportunities for women since the mid-1800s, when teaching was virtually their only paid employment option in the United States. This in-depth study explores the factors that have led to this remarkable expansion of women's occupational choices, such as the rise of women's colleges, the development of business training programs specifically designed for women, and shifts in social attitudes towards women's work outside the home. The author also discusses the challenges faced by women in the workforce today, including the gender pay gap and the lack of women in leadership positions. Drawing on historical research and interviews with contemporary women workers, the author presents a comprehensive and nuanced account of the evolution of women's work in the United States.
