Covers are clean and intact overall but have light to moderate age toning (most noticeable along edges), slight wear to extremities, and light to moderate chipping along spine. A Very Good copy. A geological report about the Fortymile Quadrangle of the Yukon-Tanana region in Alaska. This report was made under the direction of George Otis Smith, Director of the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and was based on the mapping completed by author L. M. Prindle. Prindle mapped the region in question from 1903-1907. The Preface notes that this particular report is part of a series that shows regions in the shape of a quadrangle (preferred by traditional USGS practices) and is the first to include the geological reconnaissance map on the same scale as the topographic map. Sections of text are brief but address a diverse variety of subtopics relating to the region. Reports like these were generally made with the economic prospects of the natural resources in mind.
