Vorbildliche Dokumentation. - Pflanzer in Afrika, Schriftsteller, Drehbuchautor, Maler, Spiele-Erfinder: Kurt Heuser, geb. 1903 in Straßburg kam nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg, da seine Familie für Deutschland optiert hatte, nach Berlin, wo er sein Abitur machte und schon früh zu schreiben begann. Auf der Deutschen Kolonialschule in Witzenhausen bei Kassel studierte er zweieinhalb Jahre tropische Landwirtschaft. Danach verbrachte er fünf Jahre als Pflanzer (Baumwolle, Kaffee) in Portugiesisch Ostafrika (Mosambik). - Aus der Begegnung mit Afrika entstanden einige Novellen und ein Roman, durch die er zum Autor des S. Fischer Verlags wurde. Da seine Anti-Nazi Haltung bekannt war, musste er ab 1933 das literarische Schreiben aufgeben und begann eine Laufbahn beim Film als Drehbuch-Autor. Zwischen 1934 und 1943 entstanden so 20 Film-Skripte für z.T. sehr erfolgreiche und auch international vertriebene Filme. Diese Filmarbeit setzte er nach dem Krieg zuerst in Österreich (Steiermark), ab 1950 von München aus fort. Über seinen Freund Hans Werner Richter fand er Anschluss an die Gruppe 47. Die letzten Lebensjahre verbrachte er in Kirchseeon und Ebersberg. - Der Katalog beruht auf einer Ausstellung im Rathaus Ebersberg vom 27.9. 30.11.2018 und präsentiert zahlreiche Dokumente und bislang nicht veröffentlichte Texte und Bilder von Kurt Heuser. Zugleich werden seine vielfachen Freundschaften und Verbindungen deutlich, durch die ein lebendiges Bild des kulturellen Lebens in Deutschland zwischen 1920 bis zu seinem Tod 1975 entsteht.
