Postcard is unused. Copyright information and the following are printed on the back: "Hotel Spokane and Silver Grill, Spokane, Washington; 'You'll Like This H…otel.'" Postcard is very clean and intact except for slight age toning. A Fine copy. Hotel Spokane first opened in 1890. This postcard shows the lavish dining room of the hotel's Silver Grill. The hotel and restaurant were once famous meeting spots for wealthy socialites and celebrities. The Silver Grill was known for its roast beef cooked on an open grill right in the dining room. In 1961, Hotel Spokane was acquired by Ridpath for its Ridpath Motor Inn. The original building of Hotel Spokane was subsequently demolished, and the Ridpath Motor Inn was built in its place and completed in 1963. The motor inn was part of the Ridpath complex. In 2008, the Ridpath Motor Inn and the rest of the Ridpath complex closed. Part of the motor inn was demolished in 2014 and the future of the site is unknown.

Kropp Company of Milwaukee, the image utilizes a sophisticated photomechanical pr…ocessfrequently finished with hand-tinted pastel huesto highlight the Mediterranean Revival architecture of the 'Million Dollar' park. The title is integrated into the negative and revealed through a custom-cut matte, documenting the iconic 'Magic City' skyline just as it emerged as a premier global destination. KEY FEATURES +++ Format: Classic 'Yard-Long' panoramic format, a popular early 20th-century style for scenic cityscapes. +++ Process: Photomechanical print with delicate hand-tinted coloring, typical of Kropp's high-end souvenir production. +++ Imprint: E. C. Kropp Co., Milwaukee; a publisher famous for pioneering the 'Linen' postcard and high-quality view-cards. +++ Location: Million Dollar Bayfront Park (established 1925), documenting the early maturity of Miami's waterfront. +++ Specs: Framed at 37 x 9 inches; image visible at 32.25 x 6 inches. CONDITION: Very Good -- Not examined out of frame. The print measures 32.25 by 6 inches and appears vibrant with well-preserved hand-coloring. The frame (37 by 9 inches) shows minimal handling wear. The internal matte is clean and precisely cut to reveal the integral title. A descriptive paper from the E. C. Kropp Co. remains attached to the rear, providing a contemporary account of the scene. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE -- The E. C. Kropp Company (19071956) was a titan of American view-card publishing. While most famous for postcards, their larger panoramic prints were intended for office and hotel displays. The 'Million Dollar Bay Front Park' (now simply Bayfront Park) was built on landfill in 1925 and became the centerpiece of Miami's urban identity. Dating this piece is simplified by the skyline itself: the park opened in 1925/26, and the 'Linen' style paper/printing used by Kropp reached its zenith in the early 1930s. This specific view shows the 'Skyline' at its pre-WWII peak, capturing the architectural boom that defined the 1920s Florida Land Rush.
