Añadir al carritoSheet Music. Condición: Very Good. SHEEP MAY SAFELY GRAZE Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by A Walter Kramer. Elkin & Co Ltd., London 1942 7pp Sheet Music. This copy has some spotting to the spine but is still very good. Arranged for voice and piano with English anfd German words as well as sacred words for church use. This piece of music came from a substantial library amassed by Maude Beerbohm Tree and later added to by her daughters Viola (1884-1938 and Felicity (1894-1978) Helen Maud Holt (5 October 1863 7 August 1937), professionally known as Mrs Beerbohm Tree and later Lady Tree, was an English actress. She was the wife of the actor Herbert Beerbohm Tree and the mother of Viola Tree, Felicity Tree and Iris Tree. After early stage appearances beginning in 1883, Mrs Tree married and established a theatrical partnership with her husband, in which they appeared in revivals of classic plays and productions of new plays, first at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket and then at Her Majesty's Theatre. Her performances in serious roles were well received, but she was most celebrated for her work in comedy, from Shakespeare to new works by Wilde and others. After her husband's death in 1917, Lady Tree continued to act steadily for almost two decades more until towards the end of her life, in plays and some films, making her last stage appearance in 1935. This is just one of a great many pieces of music and scores that I am selling from this collection on this site. Ref SM1 Size: 7PP.

Owner signature and publisher's stamp on the front cover, and edgewear including chips and tears with the bifolium separating along the bottom of the fold, a complete but good only copy. For voice and piano. Plate number, 5 - 86 - 69072 - 3. The owner signature is dated "N.Y. Dec. 12, 1913," and belongs to Fay Foster, a prolific American composer and pianist who took first place in the American Composers Competition of 1913. We've handled many pieces owned by Foster and know that she tended to label her sheet music with a name stamp, so it's unique to see an actual signature.

Light dampstain at the bottom of the fore edge of the front wrapper not affecting the interior, a couple small tears at the top of the front wrapper, and bumping to the corners, very good. For high voice and piano. Plate number, 18960-13. The foreword beings, "I think it will be of interest to the many admirers of the art of the late Evan Williams to know that Browning's 'The Patriot' was one of the great tenor's favorite poems." It goes on to explain how Williams asked Kramer to set the poem to music in 1917, initially Kramer liked the idea and began work but decided to stop when he realized the song could be misconstrued as a "'patriotic song,' one of those wretched concoctions that were ground out by the hundred in those days." It was not until years after the war that Kramer decided to finish the piece, unfortunately by then Williams had passed away and so Kramer dedicates the song to Williams' memory, "a song that would not have been composed had he not sat with me one day and recited this poem so stirringly that I longed to attempt the setting of it." *OCLC* locates nine physical holdings.
